Called the black truffle of Périgord", this truffle is nevertheless very widespread in Italy.

With a warty texture, this intense black nose is made up of small, inconspicuous warts. Inside, its color varies from black to purple in more mature specimens and is composed of fine white veins. Its size can vary from that of a walnut to that of an apple.
